I like the way it is currently setup - but I find that it is not very accommodating for customers. Putting my console so that it faces the south window will allow more space behind me. This is the way I had it in the first place but I gave up a lot of space for vocal and basic overdubbing. Hmmm what to do - I will keep you all posted. What I really n=would like to do is either buy a building or similar so I can really have more flexibility -

Currently recording/producing the "34th Avenue Band". This is a super tight band with awesome songs and great lyrics. Goal of producer here is to not OVER produce. The drummer and bass player are incredible, both are in the pocket players, which makes every hit they do sound big and punchy. Adding too much on top of that will only serve to diminish the impact. Can't wait until the album is out - this one is going to rock!

Westlund Studios has just upgraded their headphone monitoring system to include the new Behringer POWERPLAY 16 P16-I and (5) P16 -M systems. OK, let me just caveat this post to say that – first – my studio - as well as many other pro-studio owners - would NEVER admit that they use Behringer - period! Not sure why – as their “Composer” compressors - with a simple cap/resistor swap are actually pretty useful! If not close to 1176 god like

I think it is really interesting that as audio engineers we constantly look for the hottest gear, the best mics, and the finest monitors to make our mixes sound great. And generally speaking, better quality equipment should mean better sounding mixes - right? So why then do certain mixes still have problems, why does a mix sound punchy and open in the studio, but muddy and overly dull elsewhere? The interesting part for me is that invariably we

Have Your Music Mastered Professionally – Seriously!

For me it is a no brainier - I always factor in the cost of hiring a good mastering engineer for all of the projects that will be released to CD and most definitely for Vinyl! Yet, I have a lot of friends who, for whatever reason, do not understand the value this brings to the project. To have an additional, highly specialized engineer listening and correcting your work will only make it better; sometimes by a factor of 100%. The key however,
